5 Exercises to Find Peace

One of my absolute FAVORITE and BEST parts of being an entrepreneur is making your own schedule and being your own boss. Ever since I left corporate, I’m able to put the things that matter most in my life first, like my family. I even have a little extra freedom to do things I enjoy, just for me, like going to the gym in the middle of the day or traveling more! The truth is, it’s amazing.

But those of you who have started your own businesses know when it’s only YOU holding YOURSELF accountable it is really easy lose track of your goals and delay your own success. Especially when life gets in the way.

I want to share a little insight to what I do when things get a little crazy to always keep myself focused and balanced in business and my personal life!

Here are 5 self-reflection exercises that you can use to put things into perspective. These exercises can help you to clear your mind, relax, and find that peace you crave.

  1. Write a list of at least 50 affirmations

Affirmations are magical in their ability to center, empower and rejuvenate your spiritual self. These affirmations should embrace what you want to achieve and become in your life.

For this practice to be as transformational as possible write them in present tense and be sure to use the word “I” throughout the list. For example, I am always good at my job.

It is important to focus on the things that are occurring NOW because it is these things that will lead to your future success.

Do you hear words in your head such as, “But you messed this up the other day!” or “You weren’t as productive a few days ago.”?  I like to call this voice my Gremlin and I’m here to tell you, you don’t have to listen to him! Take a look at my last blog to learn 5 Steps to Banishing Your Gremlin and get rid of that negative self-talk for good!

*Extra Tip* Repeat your affirmations aloud to reprogram your mind with positive thoughts.

2.  Tap into your subconscious mind

Your subconscious mind is where your self-image is stored. All of your attitudes, experiences, beliefs, and values are here. Here you can find the core of who you are and it’s a very powerful force.

If you go inward and reflect upon what’s inside this storehouse within the mind, you can gain a better sense of self-awareness. This can could be viewed as a form of meditation. However you think of it, this process helps you to attain a higher level of consciousness. Once you become aware of these internal, subconscious drivers you can take ownership over them and build the world and reality that sets you free of limiting beliefs and self-image.

3.  Visualize creatively

This is a fun way to self-reflect! Make yourself a box or vision board to show your hopes and dreams. Add pictures and words that represent you and your thoughts into your box or on your board. The more details you include, the better it works! Imagination is the key and the sky is the limit! Place this board or box somewhere where you can see it many times a day.

4.  Ask yourself questions about yourself

Write down your questions and your answers. Ask yourself questions about the present and the future and provide yourself with positive answers. Don’t worry how silly your questions are at first, no one will see this but you! Just get rolling so the question and the thoughts come naturally.

*Extra Tip* Be sure to structure your questions to include details about your hopes and dreams.

5.  Write and reflect

Journaling is one of my favorite practices! Just purchase a journal and write – every single day.

Here is a great way to get started…

Each day, write down something positive that occurred that day. Next, write down a question for yourself. But, don’t answer that question then and there. Take the rest of the day to reflect on the question and write your answer the following day as a part of your journal entry.

And there you have it!

Self-reflection truly is an art and with practice you will be able to clear your mind to focus on what really matters and reprogram your subconscious. Not only will you be able to remove all of the limitations you put on yourself and find the business success you’ve been dreaming of but also unlock a new level of Spirituality that will enable you to achieve the peace and serenity you deserve.
